Louis Delmas' next NFL stop could be a return home.
The former Detroit Lions safety continues to generate serious interest on the free agent market. After meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers shortly after his release last month, he met with the New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins last week.
According to the Miami Herald, the Dolphins have not yet offered a contract, but there is mutual interest.
Delmas grew up in Miami. He attended North Miami Beach High School, which is five short miles away from Sun Life Stadium, where the Dolphins play their home games.
It's clear Delmas will have no problem finding work after five years in Detroit. A second-round pick for the Lions in 2009, he appeared in 65 games for the organization, tallying 331 tackles, five sacks and six interceptions.

Falcons, Vikings show interest in Louis Delmas
As players continue to get released around the league, it's only natural for fans to wonder how those players would fit in with their respective teams.
One transaction that occurred on Thursday is likely to grab the Atlanta Falcons' attention.
Don't be surprise if the Falcons investigate the possibility of adding free-agent safety Louis Delmas, who was cut by the Detroit Lions. Delmas became a cap casualty as he was set to count $6.5 million against the Lions' cap this season.
Delmas, represented by Drew Rosenhaus, is sure to draw interest from a number of teams. He started 64 games after entering the league as a second-round pick for the Lions in 2009 out of Western Michigan.

Louis Delmas released after 5 seasons with Detroit Lions
The Lions got to work on their 2014 salary cap in a big way on Thursday.
The team released veteran receiver Nate Burleson (saving $5.5 million) and safety Louis Delmas ($6 million), saving the team a total of $11.5 million toward next year's cap. With the two moves, the Lions are now under the projected cap of $126 million by more than $5 million.
Delmas, 26, was due $5.5 million in base salary and a $500,000 roster bonus.
A 2009 second-round pick by the Lions has battled through knee issues the last three years. He missed five games in 2011, six in 2012, and, despite playing in all 16 games in 2013, missed a huge chunk of practices.
Delmas' play on the field seemed to be affected by the lack of practice time and his knee problems.
Delmas recorded 331 tackles, five sacks, six interceptions and four forced fumbles in five years with the Lions.

Louis Delmas could be cut by the Detroit Lions
The good: Glover Quin might have been the best free agent signing the club made in the offseason. He was a reliable, calming presence and rarely made mistakes. Plus, he’s a high-character guy who has been on a winner. His three interceptions tied a career-high, and his two sacks were a career high. After struggling initially, Don Carey proved to be a competent nickel back by the end of the season. Louis Delmas played in every game for the first time in his career and had a career-best three interceptions. He also, at least until the final games of the year, appeared to play much more in control.
The bad: Delmas would sometimes play out of control, and by the end of the season appeared to be out of position a lot against the run and pass. His helmet-to-helmet hit on teammate Bill Bentley knocked Bentley out of the game against the New York Giants. Detroit struggled against the big play and deep pass for a lot of the season, and the safeties are the last line of defense there.

Louis Delmas not fined for unnecessary roughness call against Baltimore Ravens
ALLEN PARK -- No Detroit Lions players were fined after the team's 18-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
After reviewing the plays, the league opted not to further punish safety Louis Delmas for his unnecessary roughness infraction against Ravens receiver Marlon Brown, or Jonte Green, for a face mask penalty, something the cornerback vehemently denied committing during a postgame interview.
Also escaping penalty was Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy, for a hit that caused Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco to sprain his knee in the fourth quarter.

Detroit Lions safety Louis Delmas surprised by his ability to stay healthy this season
ALLEN PARK -- After two consecutive injury-plagued seasons, no one was sure how well Louis Delmas' knees would hold up this year.
The Detroit Lions made a low-risk investment, re-signing the safety to a two-year deal with minimal guaranteed money, and bonuses attached to playing time for the first season.
