Video: IRAN (is Not The Problem)

IRAN (is Not The Problem) is a feature length documentary film responding to the failure of the American mass media to provide the public with relevant and accurate information about the standoff between the US and Iran, as happened before with the lead up to the invasion of Iraq.

We have heard that Iran is a nuclear menace in defiance of the international community, bent on "wiping Israel off the map", supporting terrorism, and unwilling to negotiate. This documentary disputes these claims as they are presented to us and puts them in the context of present and historical US imperialism and hypocrisy with respect to Iran. It looks at the struggle for democracy inside Iran, the consequences of the current escalation and the potential US and/or Israeli attack, and suggests some alternatives to consider.
This 79 minute documentary features Antonia Juhasz, Larry Everest, and other activists and Iranian-Americans. The goal of this movie is to promote dialog and change the debate on Iran, so please consider organizing a screening, big or small, in your area.

Produced by Aaron Newman, an independent film-maker and part of the Scary Cow film co-op in San Francisco. He is an anti-imperialism/pro-democracy activist, founder of the SF Chomsky Book Club, and a member of Hands Off Iran. There are differences of opinion between many of the voices in this film, but all agree that a war would be unjustified. Below are brief video introductions for each of the people who participated.

"All life in all worlds" -this was the object of the author's seventeen-year quest for knowledge and discovery, culminating in this book. In a manner unmistakably his own, Murchie delves into the interconnectedness of all life on the planet and of such fields as biology, geology, sociology, mathematics, and physics. He offers us what the poet May Sarton has called "a good book to take to a desert island as sole companion, so rich is it in knowledge and insight."

WorldStarHipHop founder 'Q' says he wants to "Teach the Haitian Kids"

WorldStarHipHop, the website best known for cellphone camera street fights and other acts of c00nery, has carved an infamous niche on the Internets. Surprisingly, WSHH founder Lee “Q” O'Denant believes his website's success serves as an inspiration to children. It appears he was serious, too.

In a recent interview with LA Weekly, the 30-something O'Denant shared his early struggles in getting WSHH started, explained how the site generates revenue these days and offered weak explanations regarding the content it houses. However, what turned heads is the father of three saying he believes his rise from high school dropout to his current status could be inspiring to children.

"I come from nothing, and hard work got me here," said Q, who wants to open a community center in Haiti and donate computers. "I want to teach the kids that you don't have to go to Harvard to be a smart guy."
The Queens native, who is of Haitian descent, added that while he blocks two of his children from visiting his website with parental controls, he allows his oldest son to look at WSHH. "He knows better than to watch any crazy stuff,” explained Q. “There are worse things than WorldStar out there.”

AS Monaco agree to terms with Nicolas Isimat-Mirin

Monaco have agreed terms with promising Haitian defender Nicolas Isimat-Mirin ahead of a summer move from Valenciennes.

The 21-year-old was being chased by three clubs, according to the club’s president, and the deal is believed to be worth around £4.2 million.
And Isimat-Mirin, though not yet officially a Monaco player, told Telefoot: “I want to grow with [Monaco].

“I could not refuse such a project so I just decided to go.”
Monaco have embarked on a staggering spending spree in recent weeks, and have already secured the signings of Radamel Falcao, Joao Moutinho, James Rodriguez and Ricardo Carvalho.

Don King reportedly wants $2 million purse for Bermane Stiverne vs Vitali Klitschko

Don King doesn't have the greatest reputation in general, but in recent months (even moreso than recent years), King's negotiating tactics have been routinely called into question, with failed purse bids he's defaulted on for, notably, Chris Arreola vs Bermane Stiverne, and Marco Huck vs Ola Afolabi III.

Now, it's being reported that King is demanding a $2 million purse for Bermane Stiverne, as well as U.S. TV rights, if Stiverne is to fight Vitali Klitschko. Stiverne's dominant win over Arreola in April made him the WBC's mandatory challenger for the fight, but it's the sort of purse that Klitschko opponents -- particularly those who bring nothing to the table financially, which Stiverne does not -- just don't get. Vitali and Wladimir run the show, and everyone has accepted that in recent years, save for David Haye, and I guess Vladimir Hryunov.

Stiverne (23-1-1, 20 KO) has made as good a case as anyone has recently to have legitimately earned a shot against one of the brothers, and I don't think there's really much against a Vitali-Stiverne matchup. Few would see Stiverne winning or even being competitive, probably, but he handled Arreola and made a statement. He's certainly done more than the likes of Manuel Charr, Dereck Chisora, Tony Thompson, Jean-Marc Mormeck, Francesco Pianeta, and Mariusz Wach.

Still, that doesn't mean that he's going to get $2 million to fight Vitali, who is the clear and really only money fighter in this fight. And King's idea to own the U.S. TV rights isn't necessarily bad, but it's not as if either HBO or Showtime have exactly been dying to air Klitschko brothers fights the past few years (or to work with King, whose depleted stable is barely hanging on), so who would he even sell it to? Epix? The Klitschko brothers already take their fights there by themselves. Bounce TV? Does he think Versus is still a thing, perhaps? Would he run it on PPV? Wait, yes, of course. PPV.

Haiti WNT defeated by Reign FC in NWSL friendly

Reign FC had the weekend off in NWSL action but beat the Haitian women’s national team, 6-0, in an exhibition Sunday.

Cordner made it 4-0 in the 75th minute, finishing a pass from midfielder Lyndsey Patterson. The Reign piled on with an 84th-minute goal by Liz Bogus in the aftermath of a PK save. Forward Kristina Larsen capped the scored in the 89th minute.

The game looked to be pretty physical, as Haiti went down to 10 players in the 69th minute, when defender Frantzcia Francios got a second yellow card, and then nine in the 86th minute on straight red to Manoucheka Pierre-Louis.
