Video: Venezuela slams U.S. over 'repressive regimes' remarks - Press TV

Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro is critical of the latest comments by a top American official about the situation in his country.

Maduro was reacting to US Vice President Joe Biden who called Venezuela's situation alarming and accused the South American government of using armed vigilantes against protesters. Maduro said Biden's comments are indicative of Washington's frustration over its defeat in the Organization of American States. The US-based organization has in a declaration offered its full backing to the Venezuelan government's initiative to bring peace to the country. The US, Canada, and Panama were the only nations that opposed the declaration. Venezuela celebrated the move as a diplomatic victory. Caracas argues that the anti-government protests are part of a US plot to topple Maduro's socialist government.
