Chile rules out interference in Haiti's internal affairs

Santiago, Chile, Dec 2 (Prensa Latina) Foreign Minister Alfredo Moreno ruled out today that Chilean troops deployed in Haiti as part of the UN contingent were to intervene in the internal affairs of that Caribbean country.
"The troops have never interfered and will never interfere in internal affairs-related issues there," Moreno told reporters in the wake of a letter addressed by President of the National Assembly of Haiti, Simon Dieuseul, to ChileâÖs Senate asking Chilean troops to act against the Government of President Michel Martelly.

Moreno recalled that Chile is part of the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) and its function is to contribute to peace in that country.
