Some Latino-Dominicans in Santo Domingo of the Dominican Republic and here in the United States such as Boston, Rhode Island, New York or Florida admitted that they hate the Haitian people from Port-Au-Prince for their slavery and slaughtering of poor innocent Dominicans and in the U.S. going way back through history time after when the country of Haiti won their independence on January 1st 1804, and the Dominican Republic winning their independence on February 27th 1844.
The majority of Dominicans want the one million Haitians that are currently residing in Santo Domingo out of the Dominican Republic, because the Haitian people are making their side of Santo Domingo look bad. (Meaning practicing Voodooism) In the United States, there are majorities of Latino-Dominicans in the states that want no part of any Haitians near their Spanish-Latino communities; and the same goes with Haitians who don't want no part of Dominicans in their Haitian communities who they themselves says that Haitians ruled the whole entire country after Haitians won their independence in 1804. Even some militant Haitians are saying that they want their whole country back. (Meaning Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic)
After the devastating 7.0 Earthquake that hit the country of Port-au-Prince, Haiti on Tuesday, January 12th 2010. Some Dominicans in Santo Doming and in the United States were crying and saying the rosary.
But their were some Dominicans were jumping in celebration after the earthquake hit Port-Au-Prince, killing thousands of Haitians. We chime on this topic. Why do some Dominicans and Haitians hate each other?

They hate Haitians because they hate themselves. They keep saying that there are one million Haitians in their country, well to me it is not true. They want Haiti to claim the darker skin Dominicans as theirs. So what about the light skin Haitians living there? Well, it is ok, because Haiti never throw out its children. You don't have to be certain color to become a child of Haiti. From what I know, Spain never took them home when they were leaving the Island. Haiti always opens its door to the ones with no country. They do not want us there, well I hope they do not go to anybody else's country. They should stay in the DR and stay stuck up. They should understand there are thousands of rich Haitians who are business owners living in their country. Those people they do not appreciate. They only did good to Haiti after the earthquake because they can't say no to their god the U.S. and they wanted to look good to the rest of the world. Also wanted to participate in the charity money that Haiti is receiving.

RE: YOU REFUSED TO READ WHAT WAS STATED ABOVE, and this has always been the issue with everyone riding down on Dominicans. How about doing some research about the history and stop going about with the Haitian agenda. Quit complaining and stressing on the fact that Dominicans have self hate. READ PLEASE FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!
Honest and Dom. I appreciate your effort to bring some facts to the discussion. But I also recognize that often history is rewritten for it's. On political agenda. Some things. To clarify. As much as Dominicans claim they are a mixture of taino, Spanish, and African. The truth is the taino blood line was 98% wiped out before the first slave was imported. So the primary mixture,is of white (Spanish and French) and west African. The,hatred of Haitians began globally, after the enslaved Africans revolted and achieved their freedom. This hatred was more so based on the fear of other enslaved Africans doing the same thing. Which is why you see many countries that engaged in slavery, ending it legally. The Dominicans that helped the Haitian uprising did so for one reason. Elimination of competition for the sugarcane industry. The reason why Haiti"invaded" many of the areas in the DR was to free the enslaved Africans on the plantations. One mans occupation is another's liberation. The Haitian also forced many of the white plantation owners and pro slavery politicians off of the island. Many of which went to Puerto Rico.(ties into the Dominican Puerto Rican beef). The Haitians left the capital due to the small uprising and also because the potential war with the Americans, the Spanish, and the French who were supporters and funders of the uprising. I do question your proposal of number inflation in Haitian massacre under Trujillo. I also question the wording used to,make it seem as if the Haitians been brought it,upon themselves. This is very similar to what was said in US massacres of native Americans, and free Africans after developing financial success in the US. What you failed mention was the "white washing" under Trujillo in which the government paid for persons not of brown descent or color to come to the Dominican in hopes of reducing the number of black looking people. This why you have a Japanese and Jewish population on the island.( same thing took place in Brazil as well as other south American colonized countries.)
ReplyDeleteThe main reason why there is,so much hatred for Haitians it is because the public school system and the church maintains a perspective that only shows the negative aspects of Dominican and Haitian interaction. True the Haitian tried. To destroy all things catholic from,churches,to universities, but when the catholic church says is ok to rape, torture, and kill to maintain the enslavement of human beings because they are black, well that might cause a,little retribution to take place. This will happen only end when Dominicans embrace and celebrate their African ancestry. But that will never happen
