Don King to start negotiations for Stiverne-Klitschko

Promoter Don Kim is meeting with WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (45-2, 41 KO’s) and his mandatory challenger #1 WBC Bermane Stiverne (23-1-1, 20 KO’s) in Ukraine to try and negotiate a fight between the two fighters, according to fightnews.com.

It’s going to be tough to try and put this fight together, but if anyone can it’s King. Vitali hasn’t fought since last September in beating Manuel Charr by a 4th round TKO in optional title defense.

The soon to be 42-year-old Vitali has kept the top contenders waiting in limbo wondering if he will retire to go off into politics in the Ukraine or if he’ll continue on with his career.

Even now it’s uncertain whether the Vitali-Stiverne fight will happen because Vitali’s manager Bernd Boente isn’t say it absolutely will. It depends on how the negotiations go.

It’s hard to imagine that Vitali will pass up the Stiverne fight because it’s a relatively easy fight for him because Stiverne is a short slugger, doesn’t have long arms, and isn’t a good pressure fighter. Vitali has struggled at times when fighting guys that put pressure on him.

Stiverne can punch as hard as anyone Vitali has faced before, but he’s going to have an awfully hard time landing head shots against Vitali because he leans away fighters making it tough to hit him with any kind of head shots.
