Wilkine Brutus, a Haitian poet and writer, rants about how and why "individuals" compromise aspects of themselves or their art in order to adhere to the expectations of the collective. Are there hidden motives...do we want to feel a sense of interconnectedness when we join movements or trends? Is there a such thing as individuality without outside influences?
