Jay-Z, Swizz Beatz and U2 to Record a Song for Haiti

By Henry Adaso

Haiti has been on everyone's lately. Mega stars, from Madonna to Lady Gaga, have stepped up to donate to the recovery efforts in the wake of the devastating earthquake that affected hundreds of thousands of lives. Wyclef has been leading the charge to help rebuild his native country. And just as people were starting to wonder when rap's No.1 cash king Jay-Z was going to join the crusade, he emerges with a big surprise. Billboard is reporting that U2 and Jay-Z are teaming up to record a charity song for Haitian earthquake relief.

U2's the Edge told an Irish station that Swizz Beatz was producing the collaboration: "Last night, we wrote a song... Bono got a call from a producer Swizz," Edge said. "He and Jay-Z wanted to do something for Haiti. So Bono came up with the phrase on the phone, and last night we were here. We wrote a song-- finished, recorded, and sent it back to them. So that might be the next thing you hear from us!"

Swizz Beatz corroborated the reports via Twitter, saying: "Me, Bono, Hova have something to say about Haiti. Stay tuned. I told you I was working on something amazing for Haiti. They need us!"

Good to see two of the biggest artists in the world stepping up for a good cause.
