The Lindenwood football team announced its 2013 team award winners at its annual banquet which was held on Friday night in St. Charles, Mo.
Senior cornerback Pierre Desir, sophomore wide receiver Jaron Alexander, and sophomore punter Ed Burns were named the team MVPs for the season.
Desir was the team's Defensive Player of the Year after recording 33 tackles, four interceptions, eight pass breakups, one fumble recovery, and one forced fumble. He was named the winner of the Cliff Harris Award as the top defensive player at the NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA levels.
Alexander was the team's Offensive MVP. He led the team with 44 receptions and 638 receiving yards, and had three receiving touchdowns. He also rushed for 49 yards and one touchdown. Alexander ranked in the top-10 in the MIAA in receptions and receiving yards.
Burns punted 34 times last season and averaged 42.6 yards per punt. He had seven punts of 50 yards or longer, eight punt inside the 20-yard line, and had 11 punt fair caught. Lindenwood led the MIAA and ranked 14th nationally with a 37.4 net punting average.
