Andrew Jean-Baptiste traded to Chivas USA

Chivas USA: Carson, California - December 14, 2013- Chivas USA announced that it has acquired defender Andrew Jean-Baptiste in exchange for Jorge Villafaña, whose option was extended, and the No. 2 pick in Stage One of Major League Soccer’s Re-Entry Draft. The Red-and-White will receive Portland’s No. 17 pick in Stage One of the Re-Entry Draft. Per league and club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Villafaña was the longest serving member of Chivas USA, having joined the First Team on July 25, 2007. The Anaheim, Calif., native first joined the Rebaño Angelino through the U19 Team in March 2007, after been named the winner of ´Sueño MLS: Chivas USA Wants You! ´. In his time with the Red-and-White, Villafaña played a total of seven seasons and 86 games (63 starts), logging 5,518 minutes, and scoring seven goals. In 2013, Villafaña played 20 games (15 starts), scoring one goal and adding four assists.
