Video: Haiti vs El Salvador - CONCACAF Women's U-17 Champions League 2013

Haiti 0 – 1 El Salvador

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica – Alejandra Wahn struck from long distance in the 90th minute to give El Salvador its first-ever win in a CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship game on November 3, defeating Haiti 1-0 on Sunday at Catherine Hall Stadium.

A speculative attempt from 35-yards out by the 15-year-old bounced along the slick surface, eluding Haiti goalkeeper Jonie Gabriel as she tried kick it away with her left foot before it slid inside the right post.

The Haitians needed three points to maintain their hopes of earning a place in the semifinals. With the result, Mexico is assured of progressing from Group A, before it faces already-qualified Jamaica later in the evening.

Batcheba Louis was outstanding in the loss, nearly giving the Caribbean runner-up a lead in the 48th minute. The skillful attacker raced through the left side of the Salvadoran box, only to see her left-footer crash off the crossbar.

The hotly-contested encounter did not allow for offenses to be fully established, but the limited openings were mostly produced in the first half.
