Pierre Garçon said Thursday morning that his recovery from a plantar plate tear in his right foot is going well. But the Redskins’ No. 1 wide receiver also conceded that he’s still not 100-percent with only five weeks remaining before the start of OTAs.
“I’ll be healthy enough to play,” Garçon said during a guest appearance on NFL Network. “I can’t say I’ll be 100-percent, but I’ll be back out there and helping the team in any way possible.”
Garçon suffered the painful injury while sprinting for an 88-yard touchdown in New Orleans and ended up missed a total of six games in the first half of the season. The 26-year-old returned after the bye week, though, and was a key contributor as the Redskins won seven consecutive games and clinched the NFC East title.
It was reported in February that Garçon would not require surgery and that he would instead rely on a mix of rest and rehab to get ready for the 2013 campaign.
And that’s exactly how Garçon said he expects to approach the offseason program, which begins Monday at Redskins Park.
“I’ll be rehabbing, doing whatever I’m able to do,” he said. “The trainers will let me know. We won’t try to win a Super Bowl in April. But we will try to move ahead.”
