“Ghana Loves Haiti” Tribute Concert to Hit Accra

Several big-name artistes and movers in the showbiz industry in Ghana are gearing up to perform at a mega concert dubbed “Ghana Loves Haiti” Tribute Concert to be held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, February 6.



A lot of organisations have come together in several ways to bring relief services and donations to help the people of Haiti after the 7.2-rated quake that hit that country on January 12. Musical concerts have been organised in several countries with the International Community donating money and resources in support of a rebuilding effort.

Organisers of the “Ghana Loves Haiti” Tribute Concert say the impressive concert line-up which reads like the local equivalent of the ‘Hollywood Walkway of Fame’, will feature among others, R2Bees, Wutah, D-Black, Papa Sly, Kwaku T, Sammy B, Mutombo, King David, Okyeame Kwame, Bradez, Yasmeen Helwani, Efya (Jane Awindor), Iwan, Kwabena Kwabena, Ohema Mercy, OJ, Irene Logan, Bertha (Stars of the Future, Ruff N Smooth, Nii, Echo, Wanluv and FBS.

Guest Presenters; Kwame Sefa Kayi, KSM, Michelle Attoh, Kofi Ansah, KKD, Kwasi Pratt Jr., Gideon Aryequaye, Miss Malaika 2009, Lydia Forson, Koofori and Abeiku Santana are billed to host the concert.

Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund GHANA was established by a group of concerned global citizens in response to a call from ordinary Ghanaian citizens wanting to help and show their support for Haitians affected by the horrendous natural disaster.

People can make donations by texting HAITI to 1990 on all mobile networks, each text costing GHc1.00. Larger donations or cheques can also be paid directly into the GT BANK Account: Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund, Account Number: 202 109097 110.

All proceeds from the concert and fund-raising activities will go to the United Nations Emergency Response Fund HAITI and the World Vision.

The “Ghana Loves Haiti” Tribute Concert is produced by Blaqkaprikorn with the support of the Ministries of Information and Foreign Affairs.

In-kind donations of new clothes, blankets, shoes and non-perishable food can be made at the following collection points: Sunny FM, Springforth International School (Ajingano), Pricewise Specialty (North Dzorwulu), Adubea Coldstore (off Spintex Road near Coco-Cola Roundabout) and Y-FM (Silverbird Cinemas, Accra Mall). A small group of Haitians, representative of the Association of Haitians Living in Ghana, will be transporting in-kind donations directly to Haiti in a trip planned for later in the year.
