“JP is on schedule, he’s looking good,” New York general manager Jerry Reese told WFAN. “He’s going to be out on the field running around a little bit more as we move along. We expect him to be ready for the Dallas game (week one).”
Until now, Pierre-Paul’s situation was looking dire.
Back problems have been bothering Pierre-Paul for at least two years. It was to the point where the defensive end reported pain every time he got into his stance.
Just over a week ago Pierre-Paul had actually begun to report feeling better after offseason procedures. Admitting that his time off the field was based on how he rehabbed, he was still very inexact about his return.
“I can’t make any promises,” Pierre-Paul said about returning for week one. “I’m not focused on the first game, second game, third game, fourth game, fifth game, sixth game. I’ll be back when I’m ready.”
