DJ Whoo Kid will have a cameo in FUSE Network's 'The Hustle'

FUSE is bringing the rap hustle to the small screen with its first scripted series The Hustle.

The special six-episode, half-hour show puts the spotlight on the struggles of breaking it into the music biz, following up-and-coming rap duo Kutta and D, also known as "Brooklyn's Finest." As they try to juggle their friendship and aspirations, their childhood friend and A&R rep Ya-Ya tries to land them a record deal. The series stars Y'lan Noel and London Brown as rap duo Kutta and D, along with Erica Dickerson as Ya-Ya and Clinton Lowe as Rashad, the duo's sidekick.

"I created the show because I was a huge fan of hip-hop growing up and I always felt that shows that tackled the hip-hop space were made either super cartoon-y or very dark, ominous and scary...I just wanted to do something I would watch," says show creator Prentice Penny. "Hip-hop is a fickle audience, myself included, and the show had to be real...It allowed the hip-hop community to be like, 'This is a world where we can all exist' and it kinda makes the show ground-breaking in a way because there hasn't been anything like this..."

Viewers can also expect cameos from well-known rap stars, including rappers Jadakiss, Freddie Gibbs, Red Cafe, Travis Porter and Nipsey Hussle, along with Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club, DJ Whoo Kid and DJ Skee.
