This week’s fight survey takes a look at four upcoming fights, including two featuring Canadians.
Mac Danzig vs. Melvin Guillard, UFC on FOX 8
The UFC last week added a lightweight fight between veterans Mac Danzig and Melvin Guillard to the upcoming UFC on FOX 8 card, which takes place July 27 at KeyArena in Seattle. With both fighters coming into the fight on losing skids, it’s expected this is a loser-leaves-the-UFC bout between the two TUF alumni.
Although both guys have fallen on hard times as of late, they are still very exciting even in defeat, as Danzig picked up a share of “Fight of the Night” for his spirited split-decision loss to Takanori Gomi at UFC on FUEL TV 6, while Guillard won the same honour for his brawl with Donald Cerrone at UFC 150 despite losing via KO, and then he followed it up with a split-decision loss against Jamie Varner at UFC 155.
