Victoria Duval (HAI) loses to Jankovic in 2nd round of Sony Open Tennis 2013

Tennis - Sixth seed Angelique Kerber and eighth seed Sara Errani have moved into the third round of the Sony Open Tennis in Miami. Kerber needed three sets to defeat the former French Open champion Francesca Schiavone 6-7, 6-3, 6-2 while Errani got easily past former world no. 5 Daniela Hantuchova 6-3, 6-.

Most of the other womens seeds on Friday also won - 11th seed Nadia Petrova, 12th seeded Ana Ivanovic, 14th seeded maria Kirilenko, 15th seed Roberta Vinci were among the winners.

The highest seed to fall was 18th seeded Ekaterina Makarova, who was beaten by former world no. 2 Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-4, 6-2.

Meanwhile, British teenager Laura Robson was beaten in three sets by 32nd seed Alize Cornet. Robson served 17 doubles faults in the match. A win in the match would have moved her past compatriot Heather Watson in the world rankings. Robson has become the highest ranked teenager in the world this week but continues to struggle with expectations of her new found success.
