Haiti Needs Less Talk, More Action, Dominican President Says

Dominican President Fernandez Leonel speaking at the 3rd Dominican-Haitian Global Forum

Santo Domingo - President Leonel Fernandez yesterday called for a strategic plan with concrete actions to rebuild Haiti after the quake which leveled its capital, since in his view the time has come to go beyond words to ease that nation’s calamity.

The chief executive said Dominican Republic will establish a commitment with the international community with concrete and specific initiatives in each area to help accomplish that objective.

Fernandez, speaking in the 3rd Dominican-Haitian Global Forum, with the topic “For the Preservation of Haiti’s Culture and Cultural Patrimony” held yesterday in the Global Foundation, said the plans to achieve those objectives will be established in the Summit of the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean, to be held in Madrid May 18 and 19.

The Head of State said the Forum will lead to the shaping into concrete facts what arises from those gatherings and the ability to monitor what has been or hasn’t been reached.
