Sunrise Airways partners with Haiti government to promote tourism

Sunrise Airways and the Haiti Ministry of Tourism have partnered in a tourism-promotion effort.

The Haiti-based carrier and the ministry will collaborate to offer fam trips to Haiti for agents, media and potential investors.

Also, there are plans for airport expansion, a tourism police force and the opening of visitor centers at historical sites.

Tourism investment by the government and foreign investors is currently at $258 million, according to Stephanie Balmir Villedrouin, Haiti’s minister of tourism.

"Just as we have built momentum in growing Haiti's tourism sector in recent months, so too has Sunrise Airways made great strides in elevating our aviation sector and opening up new markets in neighboring countries," Villedrouin said.

In December 2012, Sunrise launched scheduled passenger service between Port-au-Prince and Cap Haitien.
