POEM: Margareth Debrosse - The Lonely Mulatto

I’m all alone with no
one to love me…

Being rejected by both
ends of the spectrum.

Yes, I’m the invisible
mulatto walking alone in

society; hatred surrounds
me like the planet orbiting

the sun.

Oh! What’s the origin of my
sorrows?

Some say I’m an artificial
caucasian and a fake negro; yet,

I’m beautiful as they are.

O, I’m a lonely mulatto with no
place to sit inside the segregation

buses because both sides rejected me,
they call me hybrid baby, yet, I’m human

like they are, and beautiful as they are.
